True. I recognized the flat-edged serifs as aachen and I assumed the same thing as you about it being redistributed as a font (probably a free one). I figured I'd save some time if I could find the POS used to type this in case the client insists on having it look just like this... ugh

Why not just.... stop... posting?? If youre mad, keep posting commercial fonts. On one hand, sharing doesnt stop.. and if you get banned for it, thats what you want anyway right?

PS - remember to advertise "opentype features" and "swashes" and "ligatures" (even if there is only 1 of each of those things). Overlay it over a really hip stock photo to make it look good/credible

Good point. Just like any other file sharing site/forum... it's meant for this purpose. It banks on others' creations in exchange for massive traffic, which translates to significant revenue from the ads you see on this site to the owner (jag). Of course, since hes making money off of the site, for him it goes beyond internet naughtiness to serious potential legal issues. So as a technicality, he has to define those rules.

It's like setting up a gun store in a war zone and saying the guns are only to be used for home safety... the owner knows what he is doing

People don't "deserve" anything... it's not a scam at all. I'm a graphic designer and someone who gets paid off of my work. I work HARD to constantly learn new things, increase my skills, stay up-to-date and in-style. The average graphic designer doesn't--which I'm guessing describes you based on your deserving attitude. It's free economy. And I do know multiple places to share and find anything I want for free. Not mad at all, just bored enough to respond to you

If you train your eyes, you will not need to test hundreds of fonts for a project. 3 or 4 will do. If you buy a few typefaces regularly, you will get to know them and you will be able to know for which project they will fit."

There are actually sites that do just that, and it's pretty successful. Logobee.com for example. Customers submit a description of what they want, and what they want to pay and anyone is free to design something. At the end they only pick one and the one person gets paid.

There are a million VERY similar typefaces nowadays--90% of which I consider a lazy way to earn money by type designers. With the accessibility of the internet, those lazy fucks are able to make a boatload of money off of their font that's basically a copy of helvetica with some subtle "swashes".

"If you train your eyes".... sounds like that logic fits in a similar lesson as "work smarter, not harder". Well thats what I do anyway, and my eyes are trained to find what I need faster and easier. Everyone is out for their own gain, ESPECIALLY on the internet, and ESPECIALLY font designers. Whether thats in the form of taking what you want, or letting guilt take over to where you need reassurance/acceptance more than you need a font.

All of that is just rambling really... my real argument is: who cares.

This is the internet... if you want help on finding out what a font is, go to whatthefont.com (through myfonts.com). If you want free fonts, neatly organized and displayed... go to dafont.com. Of course the owner has to say no sharing commercial fonts (that rule has been posted since I joined here), but what's the point of being on this site and generating traffic/ad revenue for the owner if it serves no useful purpose?

I say if links to cool fonts end up here, who knows if they are commercial or not... rhetorically speaking... allegedly..

The owner of this forum did a pretty good job of repacking almost everything I saw posted here, and sorting them into threads by type foundry. Although they don't come up in google search like the threads on this forum do/did
