Seems to be a fairly common question, yet now answers thus far. Add me to the list.

Would like to know this too. I've quit trying to install fonts since I can't seem to avoid getting speedial installed on my machine. Takes me a half hour to purge my machine of it every time I install a new font. It acts like you can opt out, but so far that isn't how things have actually happened.
