Does font piracy exist? I was prompted into wondering this by the "Teddy Bear" fiasco (see Font Requests). - "Copyright House Industries and Alexandra Gophmann". I suspect House Industries had no knowledge of this copyright.

Teddy Bear is "Studio Lettering Swing" with some glyphs removed and some lower case replaced by alternates in the original font. Because the credit included the House Industries name, I assumed they had given their blessing. But there is no sign of the font on their website. The true designers were Ken Barber and Tal Leming.
A lot of the stolen fonts modified by Gophmann have been converted to Cyrillic fonts, thereby creating a market previously untapped, but to my knowledge without consent.
